PPT finalised a comprehensive informal settlement development strategy for the KZN Department of Housing in February 2011).
It is the first Provincial Strategy of its kind in South Africa.
It emphasises a more broad-based and inclusive upgrading approach with a strong focus on the provision of interim basic services and a programmatic response response informed by the rapid assessment and categorisation of all settlements.
